7-1 How to turn waste into gold?
When it comes to environmental
awareness and waste management, Sweden is one of the world's champions. The
country recycles nearly all its waste and - in the process - generates
electricity and heating. This video shows how the Swedes handle waste correctly.
Swedes produce 4.4 million tons of waste a year, but only 1% of the waste is
sent to landfills. The remaining 99% will be used rationally, such as burning
waste to get warm energy, burning food waste to get gas to drive communal cars
with. I think that getting the technology to deal with waste is easy to learn,
but raising environmental awareness for everyone is a long-term process. The Swedes
collect all cardboard paper, plastics, e-waste to make new
products.
Every swedes has the awareness of garbage sorting, which is why the city succeeded. Many viewers under the video website have a lively discussion, admiringthe Swedes, and also calling on others to protect the earth together. I havealso been inspired. The success of the Swedes has stimulated me. And I think everyone’ssmall actions will contribute to the environmental protection.
